23. It was my first Facebook “bday” so many wall posts from people I haven’t talked to for ages. Many thanks, it definitely makes the day special.
I spent the weekend in Helsinki and had a wonderful Saturday in the sun by the sea. It was a much needed getaway from Jyväskylä – although I love the city dearly, it’s nice to go to a “big” city every once in a while.
Not that 23 is a milestone birthday or anything, but any birthday gives you a chance to reflect on what you’ve done, where you are and where you’re going…
Hence my post on 23 things that I’ve learned, am learning or hope to learn damn soon;)
1. Work hard
2. Party hard…but not too hard…
3. Relax soft (saunas are great for this!)
4. Tell the truth
5. Be honest with yourself
6. Be good to your friends and they’ll usually return the favour
7. Strive for balance (everything in this world hangs in balance)
8. Give a damn
9. But don’t always be too serious
10. Look behind you when you leave some place to avoid losing things (simple, yet effective;)
11. Read the news – be up to date with the world around you
12. Don’t waste time
13. Find your passion and relish it
14. Look for substance (as in conversations with meaning or just in general looking for the real value)
15. Smile
16. Trust your gut
17. Learn to shut up (something I’m learning here from the Finns;)
18. If you can do something about it, do it. If you can’t, don’t worry about it
19. Know what your weaknesses are and find ways to prop them up
20. Appreciate beauty
21. Cherish the little things
22. Learn from your mistakes
23. Dream big
That’s it, that’s all for now. My list can be 1 longer next year and these will probably change, but not a bad start.
Now it’s time to get back to number 1;)
